Impressions after the whole building renewal

On April 25, 2025, Harajuku's long-established select store "United Arrows Harajuku Main Store" newly opened as "TABAYA United Arrows" after a full building renewal.
We visited the store and report in detail on the store's attractions and points of interest!

What is TABAYA United Arrows Harajuku Main Store?

TABAYA United Arrows is a new flagship store that expresses the Japanese sense of beauty and rich lifestyle culture under the slogan of "the most luxurious United Arrows ever.
The store offers clothing, food, and housing in a vast space stretching from the first basement floor to the second floor of the main building and the second floor of the Annex.

The architecture was designed by Spanish master architect Ricardo Bofill, and features a majestic colonnade and bold use of glass.
The store's interior decoration, which incorporates a wealth of Japanese materials and traditional techniques, is also a must-see.

What is TABAYA United Arrows? Explanation of the renewal concept

TABAYA" is the Japanese translation of "UNITED ARROWS" and means "a bundle of arrows (ARROW) that go straight toward a single goal (UNITED).
The new store has been reborn as a space that combines Japanese aesthetics and a rich lifestyle, aiming to be the "highest level UNITED ARROWS" in history.

The exterior of the store is based on the historic building designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill.
The interior incorporates many traditional Japanese techniques, such as rough-finished clay walls, Japanese paper walls, and domestic timber.

1F] Enjoy "harmony" and "beauty" at the gallery and cafe bar.

See the article below for my impression of the lunch I had here.

The café bar has also undergone a major renovation!

A café-bar is also located on the first floor. The number of seats has increased from 14 to 37, providing a spacious and relaxing atmosphere.

  • Japanese sweets (yuzu, green tea, etc.) supervised by the popular Ebisu patisserie "Less
  • Specialty coffees, Japanese teas, and Japanese cocktails
  • Full lunch and dinner menus including rice with hashed meat and burgers

For tableware, glasses from Kimura Glass Shop and Arita-yaki porcelain ware, which are actually sold on the "Residential" floor on the second floor, are used.
Visitors can enjoy their meals and café time while experiencing Japanese crafts.

Meals

They also offer meals regardless of lunch time.

[Sweets

A lineup of sweets made with Japanese ingredients by the patissier of the patisserie "Less".

Cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, gelato, and other desserts with a modern twist of Japanese taste are the attraction.

The gelato menu includes milk, lemon x milk x coffee, matcha, hojicha, and dark chocolate.

There is also a lineup of cookie tins and other items that would make good gifts that will last for a long time!

[Drinks

  • Specialty coffees (made with single origin beans selected for their origin)
  • Various Japanese teas (sencha, hojicha, gyokuro)
  • Sake, cocktails, etc.

The alcohol menu is also extensive, making it a great place to visit both day and night.

Gallery "UNITED in WHITE

As an opening event, "UNITED in WHITE," an exhibition and sale of works by seven traditional Korean craft artists, will be held.
The exhibition will feature sophisticated white porcelain, glass, and fabric works with the theme of "white".

The 2nd Floor and Annex: A Selection of Japanese and International Crafts that Accompany Our Daily Lives

On the second floor and the second floor of the annex, both themed on "living," you will find a lineup of crafts, artwork, and daily life tools made by artists and studios from all over Japan.

  • Asahi-yaki pottery
  • Lacquer crafts by Tsuji Ishisai
  • Tea caddies by Kaikado
  • Wooden buckets by Nakagawa Wood Crafts
  • Iron kettles by Torayama Kobo, etc.

The store also features "JUNRIAN," a combined store specializing in Japanese and Western clothing, which was relocated from the United Arrows Roppongi store.
The shop is located in a sukiya-style space, where you can find carefully selected Japanese clothing and crafts.

B1F] Fashion floor also features an impressive lineup

The first basement floor features selected domestic and international brands under the theme of "Clothing.

Some of the brands handled are

Many of the items were inspired by Japanese craftsmanship and traditions, and we felt the high sense of the selections.

TABAYA United Arrows was a place where one could feel the overwhelming quality and world view in all aspects of fashion, art, and food.
It is truly a special spot that you want to go out of your way to visit and be inspired just by visiting.
