A café with an attached roastery tucked away in a side street in Kitasando
On a rainy Sunday, umbrella in hand, I headed to uni SENDAGAYA, an in-house roastery café nestled in the Kita-Sando and Sendagaya area. Despite the rain, there was a line outside, and I was once again surprised by its popularity.

Marked by its gold arched neon sign, uni is a roastery and coffee shop featuring a Dutch-made Giesen roaster inside. The brick-tiled exterior and large glass windows cast a warm glow onto the street.
An Extensive Food Menu — From Homemade Croissants to Gluten-Free Options

The display case features Bonelan’s homemade croissants (¥300), buttered toast (¥450), and seasonal apple pies (¥600), as well as a lineup of handmade sweets like gluten-free rice flour cake (¥450) and chocolate cacao nib scones (¥280).

The drink menu offers a wide variety, ranging from espresso (¥700) to café latte (¥800) and milk brew (from ¥850), and all items are available for takeout. We take pride in our approach, allowing you to choose your coffee beans from the menu’s bean list based on your mood that day.
An authentic Giesen roaster takes pride of place inside

Placed in the center of the floor, the Giesen roaster is a symbolic feature of uni that catches the eye every time you visit. Coffee enjoyed in a space filled with the aroma of roasting is truly exceptional. The combination of materials—exposed concrete ceilings, terracotta tile counters, and terrazzo tables—creates a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere.

I ordered the baked cheesecake and a café latte

That day, I ordered the set featuring the baked cheesecake (¥350) and a café latte (¥800). The café latte, served in a pink ribbed bowl, looks adorable right off the bat.

The cheesecake has a fragrant crust and a moist, smooth interior. Its sweetness is subtle, balancing perfectly with the coffee’s bitterness. A card featuring beans from “Divina Providencia” in El Salvador is placed on the table—a nice touch that subtly lets you know which farm’s beans were used for today’s coffee.

.
The café latte was, in a word, simply delicious. The creaminess of the milk and the sweet aftertaste of the espresso lingered on my palate, making me want to order another cup on the spot. The barista’s high level of skill is evident in the delicacy of the latte art.
Don’t miss out on the coffee beans for souvenirs

Their house-roasted beans include three single-origin varieties (El Negro, Benti Nenka G1, and Shakiso G1) and a Daily Blend series in light, medium, and dark roasts (¥1,320 for 200g). The El Negro from Honduras features flavors of stone fruit and oolong tea, making it a perfect gift.
You won’t regret stopping by even on a rainy day—that’s the charm of uni SENDAGAYA. Next time, I’d like to try the combination of apple pie and filter coffee.
