The origin of the site name "THISTOKYO+"

"THISTOKYO+" is our record of loving "present-day Tokyo" and preserving it for the future.
We want to share the "present" of Tokyo from here to the world.
We put that strong desire into the name.

The city of Tokyo is constantly changing.

People from all over the world gather here, new things are born, and then quietly disappear.

Cross an intersection and someone's story begins, turn down an alley and you'll encounter a view you've never seen before.

But those moments won't be recorded in a guidebook or on social media.
But they are certainly there.

We wanted to convey this "now, this moment" - This Tokyo -
with our own eyes, ears, and skin.

That's why we named this media "THISTOKYO."

The meaning behind "+"

The "+" at the end
refers to our desire to go beyond a simple introduction and add a little something extra.

  • The story of each restaurant that lies beyond the deliciousness
  • The quiet warmth hidden deep within a comfortable atmosphere
  • The small spark that makes you want to stop and take a look

We hope to convey that feeling with a gentle "+."

Like a pin on a map, the "+" shines a light on Tokyo at that moment, marking the places that moved us.

Footprints left on the map of time

We walk, see, and feel Tokyo today, and record it on a time map to pass on to the future.

Today's Tokyo may look different tomorrow.

That's why we want to capture these moments, record them, and share them with you.

And if, when you see these records,
"you'll be a little more excited about tomorrow" --
that would be our joy.

"THISTOKYO+" is more than just an information media.
It is a small challenge to deliver the charm of Tokyo straight to your heart.
The "+" contains a story that continues into the future and the magic that will make you love this city even more.

Together with you, the person who opened this page,
we want to walk through Tokyo's present, feel it, and leave it for the future—
that's our THISTOKYO+.
