ANJELINA Harajuku Store
The long-established patisserie ANJELINA has been loved by gourmets around the world for more than 100 years in Paris. Its newest store in Japan opened on the second floor of Harajuku's new Harakado (Tokyu Plaza Harajuku) complex in the spring of 2024.

In this issue, we report in detail on the crowds, takeout menu, actual food review, convenience of take-out, and store atmosphere based on our visit on a weekday afternoon. In addition, we will also introduce the history of Angelina's and the brand's charms, which may be surprisingly little known.

What is Angelina?

〜The charm of a long-established Parisian salon de terre that has been in business for more than 100 years
Angelina was founded in 1903 by Austrian patissier Antoine Rummelfeld on rue de Rivoli in Paris. From the beginning, the luxurious and artistic interior attracted much attention, and it developed as a gathering place for Parisian socialites, the upper class, and cultural figures.

It is also known that Coco Chanel, among others, frequently visited the restaurant, and it has built up a long history as a symbol of elegance.

The signature item on the menu is Mont Blanc.
The three-layer structure of rich and fragrant marron cream, light whipped cream, and crispy meringue is a distinctive feature, and the recipe has been handed down almost unchanged to this day.
How crowded is it? |It may be the best time to visit!
There are two entrances to the bakery: one is through the commercial entrance (elevator) to the second floor, and the other is up the stairs to Angelina's private entrance.
We visited at around 12:30 on a weekday.

Since it was after lunch, we were able to enter the restaurant without waiting in line. There was no waiting time for either in-store dining or takeout.

All the sweets including Mont Blanc were available in the showcase, and there was no need to worry about them being sold out.
Since the store may be crowded on holidays and in the afternoon, weekday mornings to early afternoons are the best times to visit.

Take-out menu|A wide variety of limited items! Expiration date and prices are also explained.
This time, we took out three kinds of Mont Blanc and baked sweets.

Original Mont Blanc (1300 yen)
The standard size of the main store in Paris

Demi-size Mont Blanc (790 yen) (Japan only)
A slightly smaller size than the original Mont Blanc in Paris, but only available in Japan.
It is filled with a generous amount of firm marron cream and is just the right size for an after-dinner dessert. It is rich in the natural flavor of chestnuts and has an excellent balance of sweetness and richness.

Mont Blanc au Chocolat Riche (790 yen) [Japan only].
An adult Mont Blanc with an elegant bittersweet chocolate aroma and a moderate sweetness.
The chocolate and chestnuts are a perfect match, and the aftertaste is appealing without being cloying.

White Mont Blanc with Strawberries (³,100) [Seasonal only / until the end of April].
A white marron cream is layered with the aroma of strawberries in this spring-only flavor.
It is the sweetest of the three and looks cute, making it ideal as a souvenir.

Honey Mont Blanc (¥900) [Seasonal only / until the end of April] (Japanese only)

Baked sweets are also recommended.
In addition to Mont Blanc, the lineup includes a variety of baked sweets and processed products.
Baked sweets set (best before 25 days)
Available in sizes of small ¥2,000 / medium ¥3,000 / large ¥5,000, convenient for gift-giving.

We also have products that can be easily enjoyed, such as marron tubes, marron cream bottles, chocolate, and tea.

Eat-in menu
The eat-in menu also looks delicious.

Expiration date and to-go specifications|Glad to see the attention to detail.
They also included plastic spoons and hand towels. I bought Mont Blanc for home and friends and baked goods for souvenirs.

The boxes are of the type that the top is not three-dimensional, so they can be stacked and carried when purchasing more than one.

Shelf life of Mont Blanc: Within the day
Designed in a cup-shaped container to prevent falling over. Cooling agents can be placed on the side of the box free of charge if desired.

Paper bags are ¥250 each, with a cute design and an exquisite string length that can be hung over the top of a suitcase and does not move easily. The package is satisfying even if you have to pay.

Atmosphere of the store|Large windows and classical space

Despite its location in Harajuku, the store's interior has a calm, classical design.
Natural light pours in through the large windows, creating an elegant space reminiscent of a Parisian salon.

It is the perfect place for a special tea time, where you can forget the hustle and bustle of Harajuku.
Next time, I would definitely like to try eating in.

No matter which one you choose, you can't go wrong! But if it's your first time...
I compared all three types and here's my impression:
- The demi-size plain Mont Blanc has the best chestnut flavor.
- The "Chocolate" is less sweet and suitable for adults
- White Mont Blanc" for those with a sweet tooth and those who like limited editions
All of them are perfect, and you can choose the one that best suits your taste. No matter which one you choose, you will not be disappointed! But if it's your first time, I recommend the "Demi-size Plain" Mont Blanc. Everyone in my family said they liked the plain one the best.

Taste, atmosphere, and service are all top-notch at Angelina Harajuku!
- Authentic Mont Blanc in the Parisian tradition
- Enjoyment of limited editions and seasonal items only available in Japan
- Calm space in the center of Harajuku
- Easy to take out and perfect for gift-giving

Whatever the occasion, it was a place where you can have a "sure-fire" sweet experience.
A souvenir for a loved one, a reward for yourself, or to commemorate a trip.
We invite you to taste the charm of long-established Parisian sweets in Harajuku.

Location and access to the Harajuku shop|Convenient location where you can stop by while sightseeing or shopping
Another key point is its convenient location, where you can stop by while shopping or sightseeing. You can enjoy traditional Parisian flavors in a relaxed atmosphere that will make you forget the hustle and bustle of Harajuku.
