CURRY UP® is a must-try authentic curry restaurant in the Harajuku, Kita-sando, and Meiji-jingumae areas.
This curry store is known for being produced by fashion icon NIGO®, and has attracted attention from both the music and fashion industries.

Not only is it stylish, but it offers serious, additive-free curry.
While inheriting the taste of the legendary "GHEE" curry shop, the space and cuisine reflecting contemporary Tokyo culture are the talk of the town. This article delves into the charm of CURRY UP® as well as the producer NIGO® and the story of the original "GHEE.

What is CURRY UP? |CURRY UP® is a Harajuku-based curry store run by NIGO®.

CURRY UP® is a curry specialty restaurant that opened in 2010 in the Harajuku/Sendagaya area.
It was produced by street fashion legend NIGO®, known worldwide as the founder of A BATHING APE (BAPE) and currently working as the artistic director of KENZO.

The name of the store, "CURRY UP," was named by music producer Pharrell Williams, who is also a close friend of Mr. NIGO®. Designer Toru Nishiyama posted the logo. Masamichi Katayama designed the interior. The restaurant uses fresh, additive-free ingredients, and has become popular as a healthy curry that can be eaten every day.

The taste of "GHEE" is back! The legendary curry revived by NIGO®.

CURRY UP® has its roots in the legendary "GHEE" curry shop that operated in Jingumae from the 1980s to 2005.
Since that time, curry lovers have said that "GHEE's taste is the one and only" and regrettably, the restaurant closed its doors.

In fact, Mr. NIGO® had a part-time job at "GHEE" when he was a student and was deeply attached to its taste.
He wanted to recreate the taste of GHEE, and CURRY UP® was born, offering an authentic and evolved version of curry that will make even GHEE fans' palates sing with delight.

Menu

Combination Curry of "Butter Chicken & Beef Sinew" from the signature menu

We had the combination curry (1,400 yen).
We selected two kinds of curry from the menu: Butter Chicken Curry andBeef Tenderloin Curry.

Butter Chicken Curry

The moment you put it in your mouth, the sourness of the tomatoes and the richness of the butter spread out in a good balance.
It has a mild and creamy finish that suits Japanese palates better than the so-called Indian style.
It has a deep flavor that is hard to believe it is additive-free.

Beef Curry

This dish is based on European-style curry, but with a strong spicy and sweet flavor.
The melty beef tenderloin and rich roux are superb, making it a "sweet! Spicy! The dish is a perfect combination of beef tenderloin and rich curry roux.

Mixing the two creates a mild flavor that is also very good.

Additive-free spice curry that is not only stylish, but also meticulous

Each of the eight types of CURRY UP® curry uses a different roux and proprietary blend of spices.
No coloring agents, preservatives, or chemical seasonings are used in any of them, making them truly authentic curry that is gentle on the body.

The pickled cherry radish that comes first is quite delicious! It is refreshing and a perfect chopstick rest for the rich roux.

The quantity is small, so we recommend the large size. Take-out is also available.

Atmosphere of the restaurant|Café-like atmosphere, good for solo female customers

The restaurant is compact with 20 seats (6 at the counter and 14 at tables), but has a sophisticated design.
The atmosphere is like that of a café, making it easy to enter even for a single woman.

The
shop has a fashionable clientele, as is typical of Harajuku, making it a perfect spot for fashion lovers.

The store also sells original T-shirts and other apparel goods, creating a space where food and fashion coexist.
