What is the Harry Potter Shop in Harajuku?

原宿のハリー・ポッターショップ体験記|限定グッズ・バタービール・お土産・フォトスポット

I went to the new Harry Potter Shop in Harajuku and had a Butterbeer ice cream.
This new official store follows the Harry Potter Shops in London's King's Cross Station, New York, Chicago, Warner Bros. Studio Tour (London & Tokyo), and Akasaka.

Located along the approach to Harajuku, one of the world's leading cultural and fashion centers, the store is a special space based on the concept of the Forbidden Forest. The store is inspired by the forest that stretches across the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where magical animals and owls welcome customers to enjoy a fantastical worldview.

Forbidden Forest-themed interior

Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing you will see is a large towering tree and owls. You can feel the attention to detail in the wings resting on the branches and the magical animals lurking in the trunks of the trees.
Further along is Buckbeak, the magical animal that appeared in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The detail of its wings, which were created by the movie staff, was breathtaking and gave it an imposing presence.

Harajuku-exclusive goods visible as soon as you enter (1st floor)

The first floor is an area full of highlights, with Harajuku limited items and "House Pride (4 dormitory goods).
The wide selection of stuffed bears, hats, tumblers, stationery, daily sundries, candy, and more make for a great souvenir selection.

There is also a wide selection of goods from the four Hogwarts houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin). There is also a customization service that allows you to put your name on a cloak, a must-see for fans.

The second floor is a must-see! Fantastic production and magical items

Take the escalator to another world!

As you go up the escalator, you will find yourself in a theme park-like setting. The sight of owls floating in the darkness was fantastic and created an extraordinary atmosphere.

A special space with minalima art and canes

On the second floor, there is an area for the sale of art by Minarima, the graphic designer of the film, where visitors can purchase valuable works of art.
There is also a counter where you can choose a cane modeled after the film's equivalent model, making this a must-visit area for fans.

Honeydukes Area & Photo Spot

The "Honeydukes"-style area selling impressive sweets, such as Hyakumi Beans and Frog Chocolate, which appear in the film, is also popular.
In particular, visitors can enjoy taking photos at the frog chocolate photo spot, where they can turn themselves into wizard cards.

There is also a "Letter Zone" where countless letters dance on the ceiling, making it an excellent photo spot for social networking.

Butterbeer & limited food to enjoy in between shopping

At the "Butter Beer Bar" on the 2nd floor, you can taste "Butter Beer," a popular drink in the wizarding world (available until 8:30 p.m.). Non-alcoholic items are also available, even for those who don't like alcohol, and even for children!

I had the "Butterbeer Ice Cream" (600 yen), which was rich, creamy, and very satisfying. Butterbeer is also sold in bottles as souvenirs, making it a must-have for fans.

In addition, the Harajuku-only food "Buckbeak Man - Pizza Flavor" is also available for purchase, offering a taste only available here.

Harajuku Limited Collection

One thing you can't miss at the store is the Harajuku Limited Collection.
T-shirts, sweatshirts, teddy bears, mugs, and other items only available here are very popular with fans. Be sure to check out the lineup to commemorate your visit.

They also make great souvenirs! A wide variety of products

The store offers a wide range of products, from small items priced at about 200 yen to expensive wands and cloaks. They are perfect as souvenirs for friends, souvenirs of your trip, or as guesswork goods.
The shop is so well decorated and presented that it is "fun just to look at", and you will be fully satisfied even if you do not come here for shopping purposes.
