Torafuku Aoyama Honten

If you are in Omotesando and want to eat a delicious set meal, I recommend Torafuku.
This time, I visited around 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday and enjoyed dinner at the restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere in the basement.
Inside the restaurant and the clientele
The restaurant is located in the basement of Omotesando, and once you pass through the noren (curtain), you will find a relaxed atmosphere like an izakaya (Japanese-style pub).
The clientele is mature and relaxed, with some people coming alone for set menus and others enjoying drinks with their spouses or couples.
The restaurant is both a "teishoku-ya where one can casually come in alone" and a "Japanese dining experience that can be enjoyed with alcohol".

Menu and price range
Set meals are mainly in the 1,500 to 2,000 yen range. The menu is a little expensive, but the contents are more than worth the price.
There is a wide variety of side dishes, and even the side dishes are carefully prepared.
The rice dishes, such as the seasonal takikomi-gohan, also have an appeal that is hard to find elsewhere.

What I ordered: Stamina set meal of beef loin with Japanese sauce (1,990 yen)
I ordered the beef loin with Japanese sauce stamina set meal (1,990 yen).
The contents were quite sumptuous, and to be honest, I felt it was "overpriced.

- Rice cooked in a large oven (choice of white rice, cereal rice, corn rice, or seasonal takikomi-gohan (rice cooked with seasonal vegetables), with free refills)
→ This time I chose seasonal takikomi-gohan (octopus rice). It is fragrant and satisfying. - Pork miso soup with lots of ingredients (a little light, those who like it thicker may find it insufficient)
- Seasonal tempura (hamo, molokheiya, and yam, crispy and sprinkled with salt)
- Various small bowls of cooked food (akimoku, potato salad, tofu paste with spinach, pickles)
- Vinegar drink (refreshing and a nice last drink)
- The main dish of beef loin (tender, stamina type, and hearty).
I was impressed by the fact that each dish was well prepared and the side dishes were not "just garnishes," but were all delicious.
The Appeal of Ookamado Rice
One of the main attractions of this restaurant is the free refill of rice cooked in a large kamado.
The seasonally changing takikomi-gohan is also a pleasure to choose from, and it is exciting to see "What is it today? I am excited to see what the day has in store.
The most important thing for me in a teishoku restaurant is the taste of the rice, and I was definitely very satisfied with Torafuku's rice.
