Restaurant ASATTE Kitasando Branch (Asatte)
A three-minute walk from Kitasando Station.
At the end of the street, you will find a small set meal restaurant called "Oshokujidokoro asatte Kitasando.
The sign is not flashy, so if you don't walk carefully, you might pass it by. But this is a restaurant known by those in the know for its "hearty daily set menus.
Only one type of food on the menu!
This restaurant is a bit unusual in that there is only one menu item that changes daily. It is posted in front of the restaurant.
The menu of the day was the ginger-grilled pork set meal (1,200 yen).
Until recently, the price was 1,000 yen, but now it is 1,200 yen to eat in and 1,000 yen to go. Considering the location and prices, it is not surprising.
A heaping pile of rice and strong seasoning
After taking a seat and waiting, the restaurant brought out a bowl of steaming rice, miso soup, and ginger yaki, the main dish.
Although I had asked for a "normal serving" of rice, there was an almost "large serving" of rice in front of me.
I took a bite...
I couldn't stop eating. The pork was tender and the fat was sweet. However, I thought it was a little too fatty for me. I would like to come back on a day when there is less fat on the menu.
The miso soup has a strong dashi broth that goes well with the rice. It is a nice relief to have this gentle miso soup in a strong flavorful main dish.
Danger zone of free refills
The charm of this restaurant is that you can have free refills of rice and miso soup.
In addition, you can order an extra order of "egg yolk soaked in soy sauce".
This is really dangerous for rice lovers.
In fact, I ordered more, and as a result...I ate too much.
The interior of the restaurant is homey and casual
The restaurant has a counter with six seats and three tables for two.
The restaurant has a high percentage of one-person diners, and I got the impression that many men come here for lunch during their work hours.
There are also quite a few take-out customers.
However, the air conditioner is weak in the summer and it is a bit hot, so it is recommended to go on a cooler day.
The restaurant itself is built like a passageway, so the space is a bit unique, but it is also interesting because it looks like a hideout.
