This is “why they work as a unit.”
Why are they popular now? 5 reasons

① The Retro Revival Boom
It’s a perfect fit for the Heisei boom and Heisei revival. “Heisei favorites” are making a comeback as “Reiwa favorites.”
② The novelty of an all-male unit
They shattered the conventional wisdom that “cute = for girls.”
The re-evaluation of groups like Hangyodong and Pocchacco is particularly notable.
③ Modern Color Palette
Plenty of muted and nuanced colors.
④ A more “laid-back” vibe than in the past
- In the past (1970s–1990s)
→ Slightly more realistic, with longer limbs - Now (2000s onward)
→ Rounded, shorter, simpler, with softer facial expressions.
⑤ Strength of Merchandise
Limited-edition items frequently appear in the official shop.

Fan nickname: "Danbi"
The official fan name is "Danbi."
They have a strong presence on social media, and the fan community is growing.

A look that makes you want to take photos
The "strong presence" of Hapidanbui after the relaunch.
The fan base I observed on-site consists of:
- Gen Z in their teens and 20s
- The “nostalgic generation” in their 30s and 40s
- Surprisingly, many male groups visit as well
It’s not just “cute”—there’s a “modern group vibe” to it.
The appeal of Hapidanbui lies more in their “group dynamic” than in individual members.
