[Mellojoy Ultimate Sushi] Shrimp, Sea Urchin, Sea Bream… A Review of the Authentic Sushi Series Recreated with Mousse Cream

Mellojoy (Mellojoy) has released a new squeeze toy that’s so authentic, even sushi chefs will be amazed. “Ultimate Sushi (A039)” is a premium line featuring eye-catching packaging in a luxurious black-and-gold color scheme, with a visual of a horned “demon child” character picking up sushi with its tiny hands. It comes in a blind box with a wide variety of toppings, so you can enjoy the excitement of not knowing which nigiri you’ll get until you open it.

The material is mousse cream. From the grainy texture of the rice to the glossy sheen of the toppings and even the gradient of the skin, the level of detail is so high that it could easily be mistaken for a food sample.

Introducing the Lineup

Based on the photos alone, the lineup includes a wide variety of toppings such as eel, sea urchin gunkan, salmon roe gunkan, lean tuna, scallops, and salmon (with wasabi). With both nigiri and gunkan styles available, the series offers an impressive range of options.

Furthermore, white-fleshed fish with skin have been added to the lineup. Even the texture of the silvery skin has been meticulously recreated, and the distinct character of each type of fish is clearly brought out—this is one of the series’ greatest charms.

Even more beautiful when viewed individually

The shrimp nigiri realistically recreates even the striped pattern on the shell. Simply styling it with a black plate and a teapot creates an atmosphere reminiscent of a dish served at a traditional Japanese restaurant.

The sea urchin gunkan carefully captures that distinctive, grainy texture. Even the swirls in the nori are meticulously crafted.

The sea bream features a beautiful gradient from its silvery skin to its pink flesh, making it one of the most delicately crafted sushi toppings.

Experience the Smooth Spreadability of the Mousse Cream

When held with one hand, the vivid color and luster of the red meat are clearly visible. The harmony between the topping and the rice is also superb.

With the salmon roe gunkan, when you pinch and lift it, the mousse-like cream stretches out, and the popping salmon roe grains come up with it. The contrast with the crisp texture of the nori is a delightful touch.

When you pull it left and right with both hands, the topping and rice stretch together, revealing fibrous lines. Another highlight is watching it slowly return to its original nigiri shape when you let go.
