Teppanyaki Steak Azuma offers "quiet luxury" in Harajuku

Harajuku on weekends and holidays is always crowded with people, and at lunch time there are always lines of people waiting in line. Teppanyaki Steak Azuma, located quietly up a flight of stairs, is a veritable hideaway.

We visited around 2:00 p.m. on a Monday, a national holiday, and the restaurant was calm and quiet, with only one other customer. It was a restaurant with a special atmosphere, as if time was flowing slowly.

A5-ranked special beef steak to be enjoyed at medium rare

First, a salad was served, and then the chef carefully asked us how we wanted it cooked on the iron plate in front of us. We ordered the most reasonable steak lunch.

I asked for medium rare, and while it was being grilled, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sauce were lined up, and the meat was served just as it was being grilled.

The meat is tender and juicy, yet light, and the portions are perfect for women. For men, we recommend a more generous set. The grilled vegetables were also delicious and overall made for a healthy and elegant lunch.

After dinner, you can choose between ice cream or coffee. It was a grape-flavored sherbet. It was fruity and had a refreshing aftertaste. It matched the atmosphere of the restaurant perfectly and was a real "not cheap" dessert.

I was also curious about the wide selection of wines and the much talked about sea urchin sauce scallops!

The wine selection is also worth mentioning. The menu is surprisingly affordable and has a wide selection of wines. The teppanyaki course, perfect for anniversaries and celebrations, includes a special beef steak as well as "scallops with sea urchin sauce," all of which have a reputation for high quality.

Next time, I would definitely like to enjoy the scallops sauteed in sea urchin sauce with wine at dinner.
