We visited BUTTER MILK CHANNEL in Harajuku during lunch time on a weekday. The restaurant, spread out in a semi-basement, is a calm space with slightly dimmed lighting even during the daytime.

The interior is very stylish with an American atmosphere and a sense of dignity, making you feel as if you have been transported to Brooklyn.

With plenty of seats and sofa seating, you can spend a relaxing time here. The casual yet upscale atmosphere is perfect for dates, sightseeing, or girls' night out. The menu is mobile order-based and offers a wide range of food, sweets, alcohol, and café items, making it very user-friendly.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Cheddar Cheese Waffle

We had the signature buttermilk fried chicken and cheddar cheese waffle (1,550 yen). ＋Coffee was added for an additional 160 yen.

First, the soup came. The quantity is small, but the taste is rich and very tasty.

First of all, the appearance is impressive! Just looking at the large, hearty chicken served in a heaping pile is enough to stimulate one's appetite.

The inside of the chicken is packed tightly and not too greasy, and the batter is thin and crispy, making it easy to eat! To my surprise, the chicken is marinated in buttermilk for two days before being fried twice, making it exquisitely juicy and crispy.

And hidden underneath it was a cheddar cheese waffle. It is not too sweet and is a solid meal. The cheese is kneaded into the dough and goes perfectly with the chicken!

The taste is further enhanced by the "maple balsamic syrup" that is brought along with the waffle. The sweetness and sourness match each other perfectly, creating the perfect overall balance.

Buttermilk is a low-fat, low-calorie liquid that has had its fat content removed, and the lactic acid bacteria in it softens the ingredients, making them richer and richer. It is used to marinate chicken, giving it a unique texture and taste.

Free Wi-Fi was available in the restaurant, but the connection was a bit weak; it may not be suitable for working on a PC or working remotely for long periods of time. However, it is adequate for ordering and researching on a smartphone.

Next time, try the pancakes!

I chose the chicken & waffles this time, but I would like to revisit next time to try the pancakes, which looked delicious! They look gorgeous and I have a feeling they will be perfect for cafe time.
