I finally visited “QUARO,” a café along Cat Street that I’d had my eye on for a while. It’s a hot spot known for its minimalist space that highlights the texture of concrete and its meticulously crafted coffee experience. If you’re looking for a stylish café in the Omotesando and Harajuku area, this is definitely a spot you’ll want to check out.

What Is QUARO?

QUARO is a multi-purpose space that blends coffee and culture, having held its grand opening on February 11, 2026. The interior design was handled by Ai Yoshida of SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE, resulting in a minimalist yet stylish space that makes the most of the concrete’s texture.The name “QUARO” is said to mean “a place to pause and reopen your senses after they’ve been closed off,” and I felt it was exactly the kind of place that makes you want to take a moment to pause amid your busy daily life.

A space where you can enjoy a different atmosphere on each floor

QUARO is a multi-level complex spanning B1 through the 3rd floor, with each floor featuring a distinct concept. The first floor is a glass-enclosed takeout-only area; the second floor has a bar counter for dining in; and the upper floors house a music bar and a gallery. It’s said to be designed so that the atmosphere—including scents, lighting, and sounds—changes as you move from floor to floor.

Music culture brought to life by records

Inside the shop, there’s also a corner lined with turntables and vintage records. The music played in the shop is curated by a vintage record shop with its flagship store in Hatagaya, making this a multifaceted space where you can enjoy not only coffee but also music culture.

Time to taste it! An authentic café latte

I actually ordered a café latte. It had a great balance of milk and coffee, offering an authentic taste that really let the coffee’s flavor shine through. It’s a cup that truly brings out the deliciousness of the beans, so I highly recommend it to coffee lovers. The cup has an interesting shape when viewed from the side, so be sure to pick it up and take a closer look.

Another appealing feature is the ability to choose from options like Ethiopian single-origin coffee or the QUARO Blend to suit your preferences.

Special courses on the B1 floor, available by reservation only

The B1 floor features a private roastery highlighted by an impressive chandelier made of countless glass beads.Here, you can experience the “Quaro Specialty Coffee Course” (19,800 yen, tax included), a reservation-only program supervised by Takayuki Ishitani —a three-time winner of the Japan Barista Championship—and OGAWA COFFEE.The program is designed to let you fully savor the depth of coffee, featuring two cups of drip coffee made with two carefully selected beans, two cups of espresso and latte brewed from the same beans, and one cold brew mocktail made with your choice of beans.
