Twenty-nine years after its debut in 1996, the official “Tamagotchi” shop, “Tamagotchi Factory!, ” has opened on the 3rd floor of “Harakado” at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku, celebrating the fact that cumulative shipments of Tamagotchi have surpassed 100 million units. As the only permanent store with a “factory” theme, it’s a new kind of shop where visitors can not only purchase merchandise but also enjoy interactive experiences. We paid a visit to check it out!

Event Overview
“Tamagotchi Factory~!” is a permanent store that opened on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Under the supervision and with the cooperation of Bandai, BookLive Co., Ltd. handles the store’s operation and the development of original merchandise.Built around the concept of “experience,” the store’s appeal lies in products that visitors can customize themselves and a spatial design that immerses them in the world of Tamagotchi.

This is my first time at a factory-themed shop! I’m so excited!
Since it’s a permanent store, it’s great that I can come play whenever I want.

The pop-style interior evokes a factory atmosphere.
When you take the escalator up to the 3rd floor, the first thing that catches your eye is a wall-to-wall illustration depicting a “Tamagotchi production line.” The store is filled with giant clock-shaped Tamagotchi sculptures, as well as owl- and dolphin-shaped character wall sculptures, creating a photogenic space that makes you want to snap pictures right away.

The signature experience: “Mini-Tama All-You-Can-Fill!”
The shop’s highlight is the limited-time experience “Minitama All-You-Can-Fill! ” (3,828 yen). Using a special “Tamagotchi-style bottle,” you can fill it to your heart’s content within a time limit with a total of nine types of mini-figures—including Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, Furawatchi, Mimichi, Marutchi, Pochichi, Ichigocchi, Lovrichi, and Ginjirochi—as well asitems from the Tamagotchi world—such as “candy” and “rice balls”—into a special “Tamagotchi-style bottle” as much as you like within the time limit. It’s an experience you can only have here, where you’ll feel just like a “factory worker.”

I’ll probably end up packing only my favorites! I’m going to take this selection seriously!
Three minutes goes by faster than you’d think, so the trick is to decide what you want before you start.

The Gashapon selection is also incredibly extensive
The store is lined with BANDAI Gashapon machines, featuring a lineup—including plush mascots (500 yen each) and oversized items—that makes you want to collect them all. The fact that there’s a sign limiting play to “5 tries per person” shows just how popular they are.

A wide array of limited-edition goods available only here
The lineup features approximately 100 official merchandise items, including exclusive designs for “Tamagotchi Factory!” The selection ranges widely from classic items like pouches, pass cases, and keychains to plush toys, stationery, and lifestyle goods such as towels and tumblers.

Items to collect featuring your favorite character
Card cases and pouches designed for specific characters—such as MAMETCHI, MIMITCHI, MEOWTCHI, and RESAPANTCHI—are also popular. The selection is so extensive that you’ll have a hard time deciding which character to choose.

Travel & Lifestyle Goods
The lifestyle goods section features everything from Tamagotchi Paradise-designed towels and stainless steel tumblers to folding umbrellas. Don’t miss the fashion items either, including Tamagotchi-themed hoods, “BORDER FRIENDS” character-patterned socks, and canvas tote bags.

Stationery You’ll Want to Collect
With a wide selection of stationery—including the “Tamamori Sticker Book Set”—that makes collecting stickers fun, this section is packed with the joy of collecting, featuring character-designed notebooks and cards.

“Petit Teru”—a one-of-a-kind personalized keychain
Don’t miss the “Petiteru” customization corner, where you can create your own keychain. Combine hiragana and character parts however you like to make an original keychain featuring your name or favorite characters. Samples on display feature creations with the names of actual store visitors, making these a popular souvenir—truly one-of-a-kind.

A keychain with my own name on it—that would make a great keepsake! I’d love to try making one~
It’s just the right size to take home as a souvenir.
