Just a 2-minute walk from Shibuya Station. Founded in 2003, the long-established Chinese restaurant “Menhan Shokudo Nakajima” is a renowned spot loved by everyone from locals to tourists alike, where you can enjoy tantanmen and authentic Chinese cuisine at unbeatable prices. The must-try item is the Tantanmen Set (¥1,080).People are raving that this price is honestly too good to be true for what you get!

Access & Crowd Information
Located on the 1st floor of the Naruse Building, about a 2-minute walk from Shibuya Station on various lines. Look for the red “Nakajima” noren at night. Since reservations aren’t accepted, lines often form, and the line kept growing even after we were seated. We recommend timing your visit early to avoid the crowds.

Extensive Menu and Ticket Vending Machine System
The system requires you to place your order at the ticket machine near the entrance. The menu features a diverse lineup, including Tantanmen (a la carte: ¥930), Tantanmen Set (¥1,080), Daily Special Set (¥1,080), Fried Rice Set (¥1,080), and Sweet and Sour Pork Set (¥1,180).With plenty of special items like limited-edition noodle dishes and weekly-changing fried rice, you’ll never get bored no matter how many times you visit.
From 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, we offer a free large serving of rice, and starting at 5:00 PM, we also add a selection of appetizers to the menu.

The Dan Dan Noodles Set offers a choice of four combinations
Menhan Shokudo’s top recommendation, the “Dan Dan Noodles Set (¥1,080),” lets you choose the spiciness level of the Dan Dan Noodles ( spicy or mild ) and select from four different combinations.
- A: Dan Dan Noodles (Regular Size) + Stamina Yakiniku Rice Bowl (Half Size)
- B: Dan Dan Noodles (Regular Size) + Standard Fried Rice (Half Size)
- C: Dan Dan Noodles (Half-Size) + Stamina Yakiniku Rice Bowl (Regular Size)
- D: Dan Dan Noodles (Half-Size) + Regular Fried Rice (Regular Size)

Trying the Dan Dan Noodles Set A!
This time, I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles Set A (¥1,080) and chose the mild version of the Dan Dan Noodles.

Mild Dan Dan Noodles
I initially thought of it as a “side dish,” but the depth of the broth, the aroma of sesame, and the balance of chili oil are quite authentic. It’s creamy and rich without being too heavy—so delicious you’ll want to drink every last drop. You can tell from the first bite that it’s been carefully prepared. It’s surprising that this is the regular size.

Stamina Yakiniku Rice Bowl (Half-Size)
I highly recommend the Stamina Yakiniku Rice Bowl. The pork and vegetables, thoroughly coated in a rich sauce, are absolute rice-devourers—the savory aroma and bold seasoning are addictive. Before you know it, you’ll be scooping up the white rice; the intensity of this flavor is truly unforgettable. Even the half-size portion is substantial, and paired with the Dan Dan Noodles, it’s enough to leave even men feeling fully satisfied.

Lively Counter Seating
The restaurant has a total of 20 seats, centered around 10 counter seats, plus table seating and semi-outdoor terrace seating. The counter seats face an open kitchen, giving you an immersive dining experience where you can feel the lively energy of the kitchen right before your eyes. The atmosphere is welcoming even for solo diners, and the place is always bustling from lunch through dinner.
Payment is cash only (credit cards, electronic money, and QR codes are not accepted), so please have cash ready in advance.

Summary
The Tantanmen Set (¥1,080) is a fantastic combination of creamy tantanmen and a hearty, flavorful yakiniku rice bowl—and honestly, the price is an absolute steal for this portion size and quality. If you’re looking for a place in Shibuya to enjoy a hearty lunch or dinner, be sure to keep “Menhan Shokudo Nakajima” in mind.Since they accept cash only and do not take reservations, we recommend arriving early!
