Located in the Shibuya/Jinnan area, “JINNAN CAFE Shibuya ” is a café that offers everything from pancakes and vegan food to snacks, cocktails, and coffee—its appeal lies in its versatility, making it feel like a stylish, urban family restaurant.Opened in 2011, this long-standing café features a multi-level layout spanning the first floor, second floor, and basement level, along with striking mural art that’s become a hot topic on social media. This time, I stopped by for lunch and tried the vegan plate!

Access
About a 7-minute walk from Shibuya Station. It’s located on the 1st floor and B1 of the Kula Building in the Jinnan area. Look for the rounded, brick-style exterior and stone-paved flower beds—it’s instantly recognizable.

The stylish, multi-level interior
The café features a three-level layout—1F, 2F, and B1—with a total of 150 seats (including the terrace and basement). Despite its size, each floor has its own distinct character, ensuring you’ll never get bored.
The first floor features white brick walls and large windows, creating a bright and open atmosphere. The seamless connection to the terrace seating is pleasant, making it perfect for a casual lunch or coffee break.

The second floor features a stunning, colorful abstract mural that spans an entire wall. Combined with the exposed steel framework, it creates a photogenic space that radiates the unique energy of Shibuya. Looking around, I saw many customers enjoying pancakes, which confirmed that they’re indeed a popular menu item.

Descend the open-air steel staircase to reach the B1 floor. This spacious area, furnished with large egg chairs, is perfect for groups and events. It also features an event space equipped with a projector, making it a popular venue for photo shoots, parties, and press conferences.

Trying the Vegan Platter!
This time, I ordered the Vegan Plate (¥1,350; ¥1,450 on weekends and holidays). It’s a visually striking dish featuring over 10 different ingredients colorfully arranged on a single plate.
Rice, falafel (chickpea croquettes), quinoa, hijiki seaweed, shredded carrots, pickled purple cabbage, green salad, grapefruit… It’s surprising to see such a wide variety of plant-based ingredients all on one plate. Each item is carefully seasoned, and the changing flavors make it a joy to eat. It’s truly impressive that they’ve managed to create a dish this satisfying without any animal products.

An all-around menu with something for everyone
The appeal of JINNAN CAFE lies in the breadth of its menu. It offers everything from food—such as soufflé pancakes, pasta, sandwiches, and acai bowls—to alcoholic beverages like cocktails, wine, and craft beer, as well as drinks like lattes and house-made sodas. Its versatility—perfect for lunch, coffee breaks, dinner, and drinks with friends—is what keeps regulars coming back.
Summary
“JINNAN CAFE Shibuya” is a versatile café right in the heart of Shibuya where you can enjoy everything from vegan food to pancakes and alcoholic beverages. Its photogenic mural art and multi-level interior are also major draws, making it a comfortable spot whether you’re alone or with a group of friends.
