Sanrio’s character Pompompurin is celebrating his 30th anniversary! 🎂✨

When you think of Purin, you picture a yellow male Golden Retriever wearing a beret. Since his debut in 1996, he has been one of Sanrio’s most iconic characters, loved by fans for many years.

To celebrate this milestone, the “Pompompurin 30th ANNIVERSARY” fair is currently underway at the Kiddyland Harajuku store! As THISTOKYO—which keeps a close eye on the Harajuku and Omotesando areas—we knew we absolutely had to go… so we headed over right away.

In this post, we’ll showcase the merchandise we saw in person with plenty of photos. We’ve compiled a report on our purchases, items that caught our eye, and a list of sold-out items as of our visit, so please use this as a reference if you’re planning to go.

Kiddyland Haraj uku 1st Floor Pompompurin Corner

As soon as I arrived at Kiddyland Harajuku, a large “Pompompurin 30th Anniversary” panel caught my eye right inside the entrance on the first floor. The illustration featured not only Pompompurin himself but also his close friends—Muffin (the cat), Whip (the rabbit), and Scone (the Chihuahua)—which instantly got me excited.

The section was divided into shelves by category—plush toys, pouches, stationery, apparel, and more—and the selection was much more extensive than I had expected. Even though it was a weekday afternoon, several customers were eagerly checking out the merchandise, which really showed just how popular it is. An anime clip of Purin was also playing on a monitor inside the store.

The item I snagged this time is the 30th-anniversary Pom Pom Purin face pouch. Purin’s face is rendered in a three-dimensional, plush style, and the soft, fluffy texture is irresistible. Purin’s trademark beret is faithfully reproduced on the surface, making it a perfect 10 for both cuteness and quality.

Plush Toys & Mascots

The plush toys came in a wide range of sizes, from small mascots to large, sprawled-out types. In addition to Purin himself, plush toys of his friends were also on display, really sparking the collector’s urge.

The large, sprawled plush dolls were particularly eye-catching. Their fluffy, voluminous feel is impressive, and they’re big enough to use as a body pillow. Pudding’s perfectly round shape is faithfully recreated, and just looking at them is soothing. Seeing them lined up across the entire shelf of the display case was truly a paradise for Pudding fans.

The shelves also feature a wide variety of plush keychains. The Pudding-shaped keychains are the perfect size to attach to a bag, and there were several different colors and expressions available. The shelf below held hair clips and nail tips.

The acrylic hair clips were available in two designs: one featuring just Pudding and another featuring Sanrio Characters (such as Hello Kitty and My Melody). The illustrations are printed on clear acrylic, giving both a pop and cute finish. The nail tips also feature the 30th-anniversary design, making them a great gift for nail enthusiasts.

Bags & Pouches

There was a wide variety of bags and pouches, with many items suitable for everyday use. The lineup combines practicality and cuteness, ranging from pouches with 3-D embroidered Purin faces to tote bags and eco-bags.

There were several types of zippered face-shaped pouches available. It’s great that you can choose from different styles, such as ones made of faux fur that recreates the pudding’s fluffy texture, or simply printed versions. The towel handkerchiefs also featured a jacquard-woven pudding face design, making them something you’d want to use every day.

A close-up of the pouch I purchased this time. The front features a 30th-anniversary design with a three-dimensional Pudding face, faithfully recreating even the red pom-pom on his beret. The back features a simple Pudding pattern plus the “POMPOMPURIN” logo, making it a cute design no matter which side you look at. The material has a lovely fluffy texture, making this a highly satisfying item.

The collection includes two types: a tote bag with a Purin-face mascot charm and an eco-bag with an all-over Purin pattern. The eco-bag looks like it can be folded compactly, making it a handy everyday shopping bag. The floor decorations in the corner were also anniversary-themed, featuring gift boxes and balloons—every detail was adorable.

This is a yellow tote bag featuring an all-over print of pudding (the dessert). It comes with a mini pouch shaped like a pudding face as a charm, and the great thing is that it can be used both as a bag and as a standalone pouch. The yellow and brown color scheme is beautiful, and the design is stylish enough for adults to carry.

Fashion & Apparel

The apparel lineup centered on T-shirts. The anniversary-limited graphic T-shirts came in a wide range of colors, offering items that pudding fans could easily incorporate into their everyday outfits.

The T-shirts come in three colors: white, beige, and black. The designs vary by color: white and beige feature an illustration of Purin holding a birthday cake, while black features an illustration of a party with her friends. With a unisex silhouette and a range of sizes, all colors seemed easy to mix and match. A black tote bag was also displayed next to them, and the design makes you want to collect the set.

The collection cases come in two colors: pink and yellow, each priced at 1,628 yen (tax included). They are a compact size perfect for storing cards and small items, and feature printed illustrations of the anniversary design. T-shirts are also displayed on the lower shelf, with apparel and accessories showcased together.

Wallets, Accessories, and Stationery

The wallets and accessories featured a unified yellow-toned lineup with a "Prin" face design. The selection was packed with practical items that would make great gifts.

The wallet section featured bifold wallets, coin cases, and card cases. With a yellow base accented by gold zippers and hardware, they gave off a sophisticated vibe. The coin case with the pudding face design was compact and looked easy to use, making it the perfect size to serve as a backup to your everyday wallet. On the top shelf, plush keychains featuring other characters (like the white muffin) were also on display.

There was a wide variety of digital goods as well. The MagSafe-compatible wireless battery (5,478 yen, tax included) features a Pompompurin design and attaches magnetically to your smartphone. Smartphone cases were also available in multiple designs. Additionally, the sticker binder is a compact A5 size—an irresistible item for sticker collectors. Along with the plush keychains on the top shelf, all items were priced within an affordable range.

☕ Tableware & Lifestyle

The tableware collection featured a set of 30th-anniversary limited-edition ceramic mugs and plates. The elegant design features illustrations of flowers and Pudding on a white background, making them perfect for everyday use or as gifts. The mug is a comfortable size to hold, and you’ll want to get the whole set with the plate. They were displayed in kraft paper boxes, and the packaging was cute enough to give as a gift right out of the box.

Secret Straps Are All the Rage! (9 varieties, 990 yen)

Personally, the one that got me the most excited was this “Pom Pom Purin Secret Strap.” Each box costs 990 yen (tax included), and you never know which design you’ll get—it’s all part of the fun. The 9 designs are as follows:

• Mint

• Powder
• Tart

These straps come as a set with miniature metal charms featuring each character’s signature food (sweet treat) motif. The cord is detachable, so you can use the charms alone as keychains or attach them to your bag. In addition to the main character, Pudding, the collection includes supporting characters who rarely appear on merchandise, so many fans are likely to buy in bulk to get their favorite characters. You’ll want to collect all 9 varieties…!

Event Information & Access

The merchandise is spread across two floors—the first and fourth —and the process involved picking out items that caught my eye at the first-floor corner and then checking out for everything together on the fourth floor. Since there are additional Pom Pom Purin goods on the fourth floor as well, I recommend allowing plenty of time to browse.
