What is the "Jujutsu Kaisen Grand Exchange Exhibition: Death Tour"?

This event is a large-scale pop-up exhibition resulting from a collaboration between animation studio MAPPA and base yard tokyo HARAJUKU. The official title is “JUJUTSU KAISEN MAPPA base yard tokyo big goodwill exhibition: the culling game.” Centered on the world of the “Culling Game” arc, the exhibition is built around three main pillars: an exhibition of reproduction original artwork, life-size character panels serving as photo spots, and the sale of limited-edition collaboration merchandise.

As you know, Jujutsu Kaisen is based on the hugely popular manga by Gege Akutami. The "Death March" arc is a particularly large-scale and important chapter in the series, featuring a host of new characters. With interest in the series surging thanks to the anime adaptation by MAPPA, the collaboration exhibition drew a large crowd of fans, even on a weekday.

The atmosphere at the venue

Large Jujutsu Kaisen banners and vertical digital signage were installed on the exterior of Base Yard Tokyo, creating an overwhelming presence right from the entrance. The display was so striking that it caught the eye even from the street. Upon entering the venue, visitors were immediately drawn to the large LED screen beside the stairs. Dynamic footage from the "Death March" arc played on the screen, instantly raising the excitement level throughout the venue.

The second floor features an open, airy space characterized by a warm, wooden-beam ceiling. While retaining the standard Base Yard Tokyo layout, Jujutsu Kaisen visuals are seamlessly integrated throughout. Life-size character panels are placed in various spots on the floor, giving you the sensation of sharing the same space as the characters themselves.

Exhibition Corner: Reproductions of Original Artwork & Character Panels

In the "Replica Original Art" corner set up in one corner of the venue, you can view precious anime original art created by the MAPPA production staff up close. The chic display style, featuring white original art lined up against a black wall, creates a gallery-like atmosphere. This is a rare opportunity to get a glimpse behind the scenes of anime production.

Additionally, several life-size panels of new characters from the "Death March" arc are on display, making them a hugely popular photo spot among visitors. Characters garnering attention in the anime—such as Hachiya, Hoshiro, Higuchi, and Naoya Zen'in—are all gathered here. While many visitors were taking photos alongside friends, plenty of fans were also seen aiming for a two-shot with their favorite character.
