Aoyama Kawakami An

A 5-minute walk from Omotesando Station. Aoyama Kawakamian is a popular soba restaurant with its main branch in Karuizawa, Shinshu, located along a quiet street in Aoyama. This time, we visited this restaurant, which is well known for its soba noodles with a rich and creamy rurumidare sauce.

Congestion and estimated visiting time

We visited around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. There were four people in line, and we waited about 20 minutes to enter the restaurant. By the time we left, the line had grown even longer, so this is a relatively good time to visit.

Dogs are allowed on the terrace!

Outside terrace seating is available for customers with dogs. It is known as a rare restaurant in the Omotesando and Aoyama areas where you can dine with your pets.

Three floors inside the restaurant|The third floor is a calm space with a slightly Western taste

This time, we were guided to the third floor. Going up the stairs, we found a cozy and luxurious Western-style space with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a date or an adult lunch.

The most popular item at the restaurant

The most popular dish at the restaurant is tenseiro.
The menu says, "If you are a first-timer, try the Ten Seiro," and we were so confident of this that we chose the Kurumisoba, a low-fat meal. I was also very interested in the duck seiro.

Here is the restaurant's menu

I ordered the Kurumidare Seiro|I was also interested in the popular Ten Seiro!

This time, I had the "Kurumi Dare Seiro" which is especially popular at Aoyama Kawakamian. It is really delicious!

The noodles are made with nihachi soba noodles, which are firm, yet have a remarkable luster and sticky texture. We started with the noodles as they were without dipping sauce. The aroma and flavor of the buckwheat noodles filled my mouth, and I couldn't help but exclaim, "This is delicious! I couldn't help but exclaim, "This is delicious!

The creamy white sauce made from walnut paste and soup stock looks similar to sesame sauce, but it has a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness.
The soup is creamy white and filled with finely crushed walnuts. It is mild, savory, and addictive.

Afterwards, a generous amount of walnut sauce is dipped into the soup and a sip is taken. The walnut grains and the flavor of the dashi broth blend well with the soba noodles, and you will finish the dish in no time at all.

Sobayu and tea for a satisfying finish

After the meal, warm Sobayu and tea were offered in good timing, and we enjoyed the Kurumidare to the end. The flavor of the walnut sauce was so outstanding that we wanted to drink it as it was without sobayu.

A wide variety of drinks|The buckwheat tea highball has a subtle aroma!

The buckwheat tea highball we ordered together with our buckwheat tea has a slightly aromatic taste that is perfect for adults. There is also a wide selection of other alcoholic beverages that go well with the food, such as local sake and wine from Shinshu.

The difference between the popular "Ten Seiro" and the "Nami" is the number of prawns.

The ten-seiro that the customers around me ordered looked very delicious.
The difference between the "top" and "average" tempura is the number of prawns, with the top having two prawns and the average having one. I would like to try tenzaru next time.

I used to hate buckwheat noodles, but now I am hooked! No. 1 restaurant I want to go back to!

To be honest, I used to be not so good at soba, but the soba at Aoyama Kawakamian was so delicious that I was awakened to the charm of soba.
It was the best restaurant that made me want to visit other soba restaurants in the future.

If you want to eat soba in Aoyama, this is the place to go!

To be honest, I have never been particular about buckwheat until now, but I was awakened to the depth of buckwheat after trying "Kurumidare Sero" at Kawakamian in Aoyama. The ingredients, aroma, and space are all of the highest quality, and this is definitely a great restaurant that I would like to visit again in a heartbeat.
