Bar dAZE is tucked away on the third floor of a restaurant building along Harajuku Street. This dual-concept establishment transforms from a lunch café by day to a bar by night. This time, I tried their rich demi-glace omelet rice —a dish where fluffy, runny eggs blend perfectly with a demi-glace sauce packed with coarsely ground meat.
“Bar dAZE,” a Hidden Dining Bar in Harajuku and Jingumae

It’s about a 10-minute walk from the Takeshita Exit of Harajuku Station (depending on how crowded Takeshita Street is). Cross Meiji Street, walk diagonally left along Harajuku Street for a while, turn right, and you’ll find “Bar dAZE” on the third floor of the dining building ahead. The entrance is at the top of a narrow outdoor staircase, and there’s a sign posted along Harajuku Street, so you won’t get lost. I visited for the first time around 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday, and since it was lunchtime, the atmosphere inside was calm and relaxed.
Tasting Report: Rich Demi-Glace Omurice
I ordered the signature Rich Demi-Glace Omelet Rice (1,500 yen).It was served after just over five minutes. The dish makes a striking visual impression, completely covered in fluffy-looking egg and generously doused with a generous pour of demi-glace sauce. Inside is ketchup rice, stir-fried to a fairly rich flavor. The egg wasn’t as runny as it looked, but since I prefer it on the firmer side, the texture was actually just right for me. The demi-glace sauce was packed with coarsely ground meat and had a rich, bold flavor as well. True to its name, this was a truly “rich” demi-glace omelet rice—a hearty, satisfying dish with plenty of volume.

It’s smothered in demi-glace sauce—it looks so delicious!
If you prefer your eggs on the firmer side, this is a sure bet. It’s an irresistible dish for anyone who loves rich flavors.

A space with two faces: a café by day and a bar by night
Bar Days operates on a three-part schedule: lunch from 11:40 AM to 3:00 PM, café from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and dinner/bar time from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM the next day (until 1:00 AM on Sundays and holidays). It shows a completely different side depending on the time of day—as a café-dining spot for a quick meal during the day, and as a bar where you can enjoy authentic drinks in the evening. Its appeal lies in its versatility; it’s perfect not only for lunch but also for a drink after work or a late-night round of drinks.

An extensive menu
The lunch menu offers plenty of choices beyond the signature rich demi-glace omelet rice, including the Extra-Coarse Ground Beef Hamburger Steak (1,800 yen), Baked Cheese Curry Doria (1,300 yen), Gaeng Phad Rice (1,100 yen), and Taco Rice (1,100 yen).Standard menu items like pork cutlet curry and fried chicken salad are also available, and adding a drink set (+300 yen) makes the meal even more satisfying. Plus, there’s a daily special, so discovering a new flavor every time you visit is part of the fun.In the evenings, the extensive drink menu ranges from casual options like highballs and lemon sours to premium whiskeys such as Yamazaki and Hakushu.

Bar Counter and Relaxing Lounge Area
The interior features a total of 25 seats: 9 at the bar counter, 6 at tables, and 10 on sofas. In addition to the bar counter—where rows of bottles catch the eye—there’s a lounge area decorated with a piano and a guitar, creating an atmosphere that music lovers will find irresistible. The table and sofa seating is ideal for groups, and the venue can be reserved for private events for groups ranging from 20 to 50 people. It’s a great spot for events and after-parties.
The piano and guitar on display—so stylish!
Looks like they have live music at night, too. Enjoying music while having a drink isn’t half bad.

Access and Business Hours
The nearest stations are JR Harajuku Station (Takeshita Exit) and Tokyo Metro Meiji-jingumae Station (Exit 5), both about a 6-minute walk away. Since it’s located on the 3rd floor of a restaurant building along Harajuku Street, it’s easiest to find on your first visit by looking for the sign.Lunch service is non-smoking on weekends and holidays; at other times, the space is divided into smoking and non-smoking sections. With free Wi-Fi and power outlets available, it’s a great spot for getting some work done or taking a break.
