" MUUN Seoul, " a popular bakery café from South Korea, has opened its first location in Japan in the Harajuku and Jingumae area. A popular store of a different concept that was originally located here has been renovated and reborn as MUUN Seoul, which was founded in Seoul in 2019.So popular that long lines form during the Christmas season, the café is attracting attention for its stylish interior that blends a Korean atmosphere with European flair.

What is MUUN Seoul Harajuku? The charm of this Korean bakery café
“MUUN” means “gate” or “door” in Korean. Founded in Seoul in 2019, this Korean bakery café operates under the concept of “a gateway to pure emotion.” Its signature item is the buttery salt bread, and its simple yet carefully crafted breads continue to captivate fans day after day.
At the Harajuku branch, the moment you step inside, the staff greets you with “Annyeonghaseyo~! ” in Korean. That single phrase alone makes you feel as if you’ve stumbled into a café in Seoul. With its white-toned interior, black bistro chairs, and wood-grain wall panels—every angle of the picture-perfect decor lifts your spirits every time you visit.

Brandy Melville Japan I visited Brandy Melville Japan in Harajuku. It spans a total of three floors, from the basement to the second floor...
1st Floor Bakery Corner: A Wide Selection of Bread
At the MUUN Seoul Harajuku store, you select your bread and drinks on the first floor, pay at the register, and then head to the eat-in area on the second floor. The bread is freshly baked daily and arranged by type in white, drawer-style display cases.

Varieties of salt bread
When you think of MUUN Seoul, Salt Bread is a must-try. With a crispy exterior and a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth interior, it’s an addictively delicious treat. The selection ranges from plain varieties to savory options.

- Muun Seoul Original Salt Bread ¥280
- Mochi Salt Bread (with mochi) ¥380
- Truffle Salt Bread ¥380
- Smoked Sausage Salt Bread ¥680
- Honey Garlic Butter Salt Bread ¥480
- Egg & Arugula Salt Bread ¥530

The Salt Bread with Mochi is absolutely delicious!
My top recommendation is the Salt Bread with Mochi (¥380). The outer crust is crispy like a croissant, and inside is chewy mochi that’s as soft as daifuku. When you reheat it in the toaster on the second floor, the mochi melts and melts, blending perfectly with the butter for a truly blissful texture. The moment I took a bite, I was convinced: “This is definitely worth the trip…!”

Don’t miss the bagels and cream cheese either
Alongside the salt bread, the bagel menu is also very popular. The “Seasonal Fruit Bagel (¥650),” which combines seasonal fruits with cream cheese, is visually striking and guaranteed to be Instagram-worthy. The “Chive & Bacon Cream Cheese Bagel (¥430),” topped with plenty of green onions and cream cheese, is also a favorite.Cream cheese is available in several flavors, including Original (¥230) and Tomato Basil (¥280).

Authentic Coffee! La Marzocco Espresso
MUUN Seoul takes its drinks just as seriously. A La Marzocco espresso machine takes pride of place at the counter, serving up authentic coffee. The Soy Latte (¥650) I ordered this time had a rich bean flavor combined with the smoothness of soy milk, making it incredibly easy to drink and delicious. It paired perfectly with the bread.

Second-floor dining area: A space that looks great no matter where you sit
After placing your order on the first floor, head up the steep stairs to the second-floor dining area. It’s a nostalgic yet stylish space—a blend of “Korean ambiance and European café vibes”—featuring light wood-toned walls, large windows, and rows of black bistro chairs.

My favorite part is the booth seating, partitioned off for a sense of privacy. Under the warm glow of the pendant lamps, you can leisurely enjoy bread and coffee. Antique decorative accents adorn the walls, allowing you to appreciate the meticulous attention to detail in the overall ambiance.

Reheat with the toaster on the second floor! Enjoy it piping hot
There’s an Aladdin toaster on the second floor, and it’s a real treat to be able to reheat your own bread. In just a few minutes, the outside becomes crispy while the inside stays fluffy. Since you can enjoy it in a state close to freshly baked, it offers a different kind of deliciousness compared to takeout.
MUUN’s Distinctive Brand Aesthetic
The placemats on the tables feature detailed descriptions of MUUN Seoul’s brand story and ways to enjoy the bread in Japanese, Korean, and English, designed so that even first-time visitors can enjoy their experience without any confusion. The paper cups featuring MUUN’s characters are also adorable, with a design that makes you want to take a photo right away.
