The world’s most famous penguin, “Pingu,” and Sanrio’s boys’ group “Hapidanbui” have teamed up for their first-ever collaboration! The “Pingu × Happidanbui POP UP STORE -KAKIGORI PARTY-” is currently open for a limited time at “MAKE THE STAGE” on the 5th floor of Laforet Harajuku. With the theme of “kakigori” (shaved ice)—a quintessential summer treat—the store is packed with adorable collaboration merchandise. We headed over to check it out right away!

Event Overview

This is a memorable collaboration marking the first time Pingu — celebrating his 45th anniversary in 2025—and Hapidanbui—celebrating their 5th anniversary —have joined forces.Inspired by the previously popular Pingu × Tuxedo Sam collaboration, the story behind this partnership is that the members of Hapidanbui—who are friends with Tuxedo Sam (Pochacco, Bad Batsumaru, Tuxedo Sam, Hangyodon, Kerokero Keroppi, andPeckle the Duck) have also become good friends.

Check It Out! Pre-sale Collaboration Mascots

The hottest item among the merchandise is the collaboration mascot, available for pre-sale at this pop-up event. The design features Pingu carrying his “Happy Danbui” friends in a shoulder pouch-style, and the attention to detail—with Pingu’s expression and scarf color varying for each character—really shines.You’re bound to have a hard time deciding which one to take home. It’s so irresistible that you’ll want to collect the entire set.

During the same period, “MILK MILK MILK! ” on the 2nd floor of Laforet Harajuku will offer collaboration menu items—such as “Pingu’s Icy Smoothie”—along with café-exclusive merchandise. Customers who spend ¥1,500 or more will receive one limited-edition postcard. It’s a well-rounded collaboration event where you can enjoy both merchandise and sweets.
